Shipton by Beningbrough is a characterful commuter village set within the Hambleton Civil Council District, 6 miles from The City of York. The area was originally known as “Hipton”, after the briar-shrub surroundings, which became part of the Royal Forest of Galtres and are first mentioned in the Domesday survey of 1086. The Georgian market town of Easingwold is only a short distance by car and features a fabulous range of retailers, cafes, public houses, banks and a Post Office.
To the south is The City of York and the Medieval market town of Wetherby is 17 miles south-west. The Spa town of Harrogate is also 23 miles away and each offer an array of independent shops and eateries, perfect for indulging in the local produce.
The Galtres is 16 miles from the A1(M) link road to the North and South, which provides a direct route to Leeds and access onto the M1. Leeds-Bradford Airport (just 31 miles from Shipton) is one of the UK’s fastest growing airports, serving over 60 destinations that include many popular locations across Europe.
