Appleton Wiske sits at the foot of the beautiful Cleveland Hills, close to Yarm, Northallerton and Darlington.
The village is served by a local provision store and Post Office, stocking great products from Hutchinson Hobbs, Kitsons, Choc-affair and Stonehouse Bakery. There's also a family-friendly pub, several church facilities, a frequent bus service and major link roads to Leeds, York, Middlesborough, Tees Valley and Leeds Bradford Airport.
It’s approximately 3 miles from the Darlington Road (A167), 5 miles from the A19 and 9 miles north of Northallerton, which features a range of facilities, including a well served High Street with a Marks and Spencer Food Hall, Betty’s Tea Room, Barker’s Department Store, several independent and chain restaurants, a twice weekly market and monthly farmers market, a hospital and a library.
Other nearby towns include Helmsley, Thirsk and Richmond, and a little further afield are York, Harrogate and Leeds, which can be accessed via the train station in Northallerton or in around a one-hour drive.
The beautiful East Coast can also be reached in half an hour. Alternatively, if you wanted to leave the car at home and spend a day exploring the surroundings, there are plenty of picturesque walks right on the doorstep. There is also a lovely little village inn offering home cooked food and a large selection of local ales.
